LGBT Therapy

THE THERAPIST YOU NEED TO HELP YOU LIVE
AN LGBT LIFE WITH PRIDE’ !!!

Are you gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or questioning and looking for someone to talk to about the issues and challenges going on in your life?

Are you looking for someone you can trust, who truly understands the unique struggles that go along with being LGBTQ in a world that stigmatizes our orientation?

 YOU FOUND YOUR GUY!

As a gay man and proud member of the LGBT community myself, I have always had a special affinity for working with our population. And while we may need help in many of the same clinical and life issues as our heterosexual counterparts (like depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship problems, job stress, etc.), there are also a lot of issues that are unique to being LGBT that require the special guidance of someone who’s been there in the trenches where you are and really ‘gets it.’

Does This Describe You?

The following examples are real situations (with names changed) that required guidance to help them to a better place:

  • Tina is in a heterosexual marriage and has come to the realization that she is gay. Now she finds herself in the agonizing dilemma of whether to stay in the relationship with her husband or pursue a lesbian lifestyle.
  • Paul is confused about his sexual orientation and is tormented with fear and uncertainty about whether he is gay or bisexual and doesn’t have anybody to talk to about it.
  • Mark and Tim are in a long-term relationship and conflicted with whether to remain monogamous or to have an open relationship.
  • Lisa and Jamie are a married couple who are experiencing stress associated with gay parenting and some negative reactions they are getting from their local community and children’s school.

    • Anna is transgender (male-to-female) and is contemplating hormone treatment and surgery, but her family is in opposition. She doesn’t know where to turn for resources or assistance.
    • Tony is a single gay man feeling depressed and hopeless with the challenges he’s encountering trying to find a decent man to date.
    • Michael finds himself depressed and trapped in a vicious cycle of unending sexual involvements with random men he meets online and can’t seem to control his behavior.
    • Carrie is having a hard time accepting her same-sex feelings toward other women and has begun masking her pain with alcohol and drugs; her friends and family are concerned by her increased party behavior.
    • Greg, Don, and Peter are involved in a three-way relationship and are finding it difficult to negotiate the various complex dynamics and roles that have emerged.

    LGBT – Our Community

The LGBT-affirmative counseling services at Personal Victory Counseling, Inc. can assist with these and the multitude of other issues that affect our community.

Did you know that there are certain stages that gay men, lesbians, and bisexuals go through when they begin to come out to themselves and others?

There are also typical developmental stages that transgender individuals travel as they come to learn about their identities.

And there are even certain developmental stages and challenges that gay couples experience as their relationships evolve.

I can help as you go through your personalized journey to help you avoid getting hung up on any of the potential obstacles that could get in the way of your identity and relationship success.
